Happy New Years! Our favorite releases of 2007

We’re wishing everyone out there with a safe and great New Year! 2007 was a great year, and we know 2008 is going to be even better!

Here are our top picks for best Hardcore and Punk releases of 2007

Capital – Homefront

Revelation Records
Hailing from Long Island and featuring the vocalist of Silent Majority, this five piece have studied what makes Melodic Hardcore so great and perfected it. With lyrical content that revolves around politics, social issues, religion, and Hardcore, you can’t go wrong with this album. This a MUST HAVE for 2007. For fans of Dag Nasty, Silent Majority, Strength 691, With Honor, Rise Against, Gorilla Biscuits, and Leeway.

Gaslight Anthem – Sink or Swim

XOXO Records
With so much music sounding the same these days, 2007 brought such a breath of fresh air with a band from New Jersey called Gaslight Anthem. Their anthemic Punk hooks and deep blues-inspired melodies will create a fan instantly. For fans of Bruce Springsteen, Lucero, Bouncing Souls, The Loved Ones, Against Me!, Social Distortion, and Billy Bragg.

108 – A New Beat From A Dead Heart

From the creative minds of Rob Fish and Vic DiCara, anger and frustration cannot be expressed better than the songs in this latest release from 108. Reunited in 2005, this band retook the Hardcore scene by storm, showing how heavy music should be played. For fans of Converge, Deadguy, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

Deathkiller – New England Is Sinking

I Scream Records
If there is such thing as a sleeper hit in Hardcore Punk, then this album should be it. Featuring former members of Hatebreed and Most Precious Blood, New England Is Sinking features 12 furious tracks in less than half an hour. Don’t let the name fool you. These songs combine a great mixture of raspy singing, crushing grooves, and political lyrics. For fans of Quicksand, Hot Water Music, The Bronx, and Indecision.

Lifetime – Lifetime
Fueled By Ramen
From the first listen of this album, it sounded like they picked up right where they left off ten years ago. Fast and melodic, just like every other Lifetime album, this one doesn’t disappoint. For fans of Kid Dynamite, Shook Ones, Saves The Day, Armalite, and Paint It Black (I know this comparison list is cheating).

Also, we suggest to pick up the following releases…
